Grilled Cheese & Chocolate Chip Cookies

Tonight after youth Bible study, somehow we ended up with a few stray teens at our home looking for grilled cheese sandwiches. Normally, we'd just turn the hose on them and laugh at them as they stood soaking in the driveway, but since they came bearing gifts such as chocolate chip cookie dough, bread, chips, drinks, etc, we decided to let them in. We tried to get them to get all of our other groceries, but after they declined we figured we'd take what we could get. We had a blast! Thanks for coming over ya'll! (Whit, Trav, And...nope, it was worth a shot...Andrew)
Wifey & Stunt Wifey in the kitchen
The kitchen crew...some were cookers...some were eaters...I was with group two
Whit's ginormous cookies of goodness
Travis in the fetal position. I think he may have had one too many cookies

So for anybody who would like to just drop by sometime, if you're bringing the food, our door is always open!!! And all God's people said....pass another cookie!

Romania Fundraiser

This past Sunday we had our Spaghetti Luncheon & Dessert Auction to help send our team to Romania, which is only a few weeks away. And as always, the Lord, through the stomachs of some fine Baptist folks, stepped in and provided in wonderful ways! As I've heard Lanny quote, "God's will is God's bill." I add to that, "a pie in their hands, sends to foreign lands!" Thank You for Your provision my King! To everyone who helped in any way...I say thank you!

Lanny doing his part by sporting a 'spiffy' apron. You stud!

The lines were long and the somachs were empty...but not for long!

Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines, That Pillsbury Fella...all pitched in to help.

The Boy (& biopsy results)

Well, I got a call from the Vet with the scoop on Bo. They're still not 100% sure what's wrong with him, but they've narrowed it down to two possibilities: 1) Pioderma - a severe infection on the lowest layer of the skin. This would require either removing all of his skin (not really an option) or hoping that an antibiotic called sephalexin taken orally 2 times a day for the next couple of months would clear it up. OR 2) Lupus - an autoimmune disease in which the body's natural defense system attacks its own tissues. This would require regular doses of the steroid pregnazone for the rest of his life. I'm really hoping for the Pioderma. If this is the case, it is possible that it could clear up within a few months; and though he'd have it for life, it would only resurface ocassionally. Thanks for so many of you inquiring about the health of our dog! He feels loved! ;-)

Youth Led Bible Study

Throughout the summer, our Youth will be leading during our Wednesday night Bible study. Four young men, who feel the Lord's calling them to a surrenderance to the ministry, will be preaching on a rotation schedule each Wed night. This week was Caleb Cole. In the following weeks it will be Andrew Stephens, Matt Allen, and Travis McCartney...all four of them being seniors in high school this next year! I stand amazed when I think of how so many teenage guys are living their lives as boys, yet these few are following in the steps of men. From Scripture we have seen what God can do with passionate young men willing to rise up for His Name sake; examples like Joshua, David, and Timothy are just a few. Lord, use these young men in powerful ways for Your glory alone!

The Boy

Well, Wifey just got a report from the vet's office. Bo did well during surgery and is in recovery. The x-rays did show something wrong with his hips, but they will not be able to give him any medication until they receive the results back from the biopsy on his nose and eye lids, which will take about 10-14 days. So, we're in a holding pattern until then. We should receive info in his discharge papers regarding what to do until then.

The Blogging World

Usually it takes me a while to catch on to what everybody else is doing. I guess I like to make sure it will stick before committing the time and the effort. It's like tight-rolling my jeans in junior high. However, by the time I jumped in on that one, the trend was just about over. Live in learn. But as for everybody else, I say "Howdy" from the newest member to the blogging community.
